Impaired drivers can expect extra attention from the Kelowna RCMP tonight
It’s especially risky to drive drunk in the Okanagan tonight because it’s New Years Eve and RCMP officers are going to be ruling the streets with an iron first.
Impaired drivers will the the target of “several” road blocks around Kelowna, according to an RCMP press release.
“Road safety year round is a priority for our team,” Const. Mike Della-Paolera said in the release.
“We understand people will be out having a great time ringing in the New Year on Saturday night, but everyone needs to remember to be safe and plan a safe ride home. Our teams will be out in full force this weekend.”
The RCMP say 60 people are killed in B.C. every year as a result of impaired driving, in addition to 1,700 accidents.
