Iconic Kelowna farmers' market debuts in new location this weekend
Kelowna's popular famers' market is on the move this spring to a new location.
The Kelowna Farmers' and Crafters' Market will be launching this season at its new location in the Landmark District this weekend, according to a news release.
On April 6, for the first time ever, the market will take place at in the Landmark District.
"Its presence will infuse the district with new vibrancy and excitement, making our community an even more lively and engaging place to be,” Stober Group CEO Lisa Lock said in the release.
The move is seen as a huge upgrade for the tenants of the district who will have unique opportunities to directly engage with local producers and artisans right at their workplace. The hope is this will enrich the day-to-day experience within the district and foster a stronger sense of community.
"We extend an invitation to everyone to come and experience the vibrant atmosphere of our first day in this dynamic new environment,” farmers' market president Allie Becker said in the release.
The market's move from its former location near the Orchard Park mall is seen as a milestone.
“Just over a year ago today, we expressed our commitment as council in assisting to locate a new permanent home for this iconic market,” Dyas said in the release.
The market's opening day at the new location is Saturday, April 6, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
