How to define the quality of life when illness limits what you can do

UBC DISCUSSION IN KELOWNA AND VERNON ARE PART OF CELEBRATE RESEARCH WEEK

Health care experts will discuss how to improve quality of life for people living with advanced life-limiting illnesses. Two sessions will take place, in Kelowna on Thursday, March 6 and in Vernon on Thursday, March 7. These events are part of Celebrate Research week at UBC’s Okanagan campus.

The expert panel includes Associate Professors Carole Robinson and Barb Pesut from UBC’s School of Nursing, and Associate Professor Richard Sawatzky, Trinity Western University’s School of Nursing. Gail Potter will deliver expert patient perspectives at the Kelowna discussion and Debra Pool at the Vernon event. CBC Daybreak host Chris Walker is moderator in Kelowna while Ruth Edwards, executive director of the North Okanagan Hospice Society, moderates the Vernon event.

The discussions, organized by the Canadian Institutes for Health Research, the Institute for Healthy Living and Chronic Disease Prevention, and the North Okanagan Hospice Society, are free and open to the public. However, people are asked to preregister.
