KELOWNA - Canada’s iconic cuisine will be celebrated in Kelowna this weekend for The Great Okanagan Poutine Eating Challenge.

The event, which will be hosted by Kelowna restauranteur Terri Goldsmith at Smokes Poutinerie, will challenge over 18 hungry local competitors to devour a meal-size poutine at top speed.

She or he who eats the fastest will walk away with a trophy, bragging rights and free poutine.

This year the event will also feature special guest participation, including a round for Mascots from the Okanagan Mascot Games where attendees will see notable local mascots compete including Rocky of the Kelowna Rockets and The General of the West Kelowna Warriors among many others.

The whole thing will take place Saturday, May 11 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Smoke’s Poutinerie, located at 269 Bernard Ave.
