KAMLOOPS - It's going to be a hot weekend in the 'Loops.

Not only is the thermometer expected to peak into the mid-30s, but the annual show and shine car event in the downtown core is set to take place beginning today and into the weekend.

Street rods, customs, American muscle, sport-compact, import, collectors, tractors and bikes will line the streets of 13 city blocks, closed off for spectators.

Registration for the annual poker run begins today at 3 p.m. at the Plaza Heritage Hotel at Fourth Avenue and Victoria Street.

This year, live entertainment will kick off Saturday's festivities with two stages along Victoria Street — with a main stage on Fourth Avenue featuring the likes of Matt Stanley, Blackdog Blue and Lawt 44, and another on First Avenue featuring a local DJ.

A short walk from Victoria Street, Kamloopsians can check out the second annual Ribfest on all weekend at Riverside Park. Admission is free for those wanting to check out the rib cook-off between five barbecue teams, live entertainment, children and youth activities, as well as local vendors.

If muscle cars and ribs aren't your thing, you may want to check out the live theatre at Prince Charles Park.

This weekend will be your last chance as X Fest wraps up tomorrow night with the final showing of You're a good Man Charlie Brown.

"Tonight's performance at 7:30 p.m. is the final showing of Fantastic Mr. Fox, which is really close to being sold out," said Derek Rein producer of Project X Theatre Productions.

The annual improv show follows this evening at 9:30 p.m.

"We've had an excellent run," Rein said.

Tickets for X Fest run at $25 for adults, $20 for students and seniors and $12 for children 12 and under and can be purchased at the gate or through Kamloops Live Box Office.Tickets are $25, available at the gates before the show, however if you bring your ticket stub from an X Fest performance, you get a second ticket free.
