THOMPSON-OKANAGAN - The North Okanagan (including Vernon), Shuswap and the North Thompson may be in for some wild weather.

At 9:52 a.m. today, Aug. 7, Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch.

The alert describes current weather conditions as "favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, hail and heavy rain."

Environment Canada reminds the public that heavy rain can lead to flash flooding, causing large amounts of water to pool on roads.

To report severe weather, send an email to pacificstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #BCStorm.
