PENTICTON - The BCHL playoffs get underway tonight and the annual home show is on this weekend in Penticton.

Game one of the Interior Division semi-finals between the Penticton Vees and the Vernon Vipers goes tonight, March 4, at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

The first 1,000  fans will receive an official Vees Paint the Town Blue T-shirt. Courtesy of Penticton Vees first round sponsor Otter Co-op, 300 cow bells will also be handed out. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the puck drops at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $16 adult, $14 senior and free to students and children courtesy of Peters Bros. Construction. Tickets can be purchased at the Valley First Box Office at the events centre and the Wine Country Visitor Centre, online at ValleyFirstTix.com, or by phone at 1-877-763-2849.

With spring building and renovation projects on many homeowners’ minds, the South Okanagan annual Home and Renovation Show offers an opportunity to check out what’s new in construction and meet local contractors.

The Canadian Home Builders' Association show takes place Saturday and Sunday, March 5 and 6, at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre.

Show times are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

If you are making the trip to Kelowan this weekend you may want to take in a free film festival.

The World Community Film Festival will be showing a selection of 29 documentaries from around the world on social justice, environmental and human rights issues. The festival's grand opening is tonight at Okanagan College on KLO Road, followed by two days of screenings.

Festival hours are Saturday, March 5 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, March 6 from 10 a.m to 8:30 p.m. Admission is free.
