Average audience of 2.27 million viewers watches Canada's Game 2 World Cup win

TORONTO - Canada's 2-1 victory over Team Europe in Game 2 of the World Cup of Hockey final drew an average audience of 2.27 million viewers on Sportsnet, the network said in a release on Friday.

Brad Marchand scored the winning goal in the final minute of regulation Thursday night as Canada swept the best-of-three final at Air Canada Centre.

More than 7.5 million Canadians tuned in to some part of the broadcast, according to overnight data from Canadian ratings company Numeris.

The men's gold-medal hockey game at the 2010 Winter Olympics is considered to be the most-watched broadcast ever in Canada. An average audience of 16.6 million viewers watched Canada's overtime win over the United States in Vancouver.
