TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs aren't going to lose forward Joffrey Lupul to a suspension.
The NHL slapped Lupul with a $10,000 US fine Friday for his hit on Detroit forward Patrick Eaves in Toronto's 3-2 shootout win over the Red Wings at the Winter Classic at Michigan Stadium on Wednesday.
Lupul was assessed a cross-checking minor in the first period after the hit against Eaves, who didn't return to the game.
