Flames activate goaltender Mike Smith from injured reserve; send Gillies to AHL

CALGARY - Goaltender Mike Smith was activated off the injured reserve by the Calgary Flames on Sunday afternoon.

Calgary also terminated the emergency recall status of goaltender Jon Gillies and assigned him to the American Hockey League's Stockton Heat.

He was placed on the IR with an injured groin on Feb. 24.

Gillies appeared in seven games for Calgary this season. The 24-year-old goaltender posted a 2-2-1 record with a 2.78 GAA and a .904 save percentage.

LETTER: Not impressed, Mr. Dyas
OPINION I’m already weary of Tom Dyas’s attacks throwing Kelowna City staff, council, and Mayor Colin Basran under the bus. To lead a city as mayor, it takes the ability to collaborate and work as a team.
