Weise scores overtime winner as Montreal takes Game 1 over Tampa Bay 5-4

TAMPA, Fla. - Dale Weise scored his first playoff goal in overtime to lift the Montreal Canadiens over the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-4 on Wednesday in Game 1 of their first round playoff series.

Steven Stamkos scored twice, Alex Killorn had a goal and an assist, and Nikita Kucherov also scored for the Lightning, who were outshot 43-25.

Lars Eller had a goal and an assist, Brian Gionta scored shorthanded, and Thomas Plekanec and Thomas Vanek replied for the Canadiens.

Carey Price made 21 saves, while Tampa Bay's Anders Lindback stopped 39 shots.

Montreal pulled ahead twice in the third period, taking 3-2 and 4-3 leads on goals from Eller and Vanek, respectively.

But Stamkos scored his second of the night at 13:27 of the third, tying the game 4-4 two minutes after Vanek's goal.

Tampa Bay killed off a Killorn high-sticking penalty in the last two minutes of regulation to force overtime.
