A stretch of Highway 97 south of Oliver is closed until further notice following a serious car crash this morning.

Emergency crews responded to the collision at around 8 a.m. today, July 31, on Highway 97 and Road 22, according to an RCMP media release.

RCMP haven't released anything information about the crash at this time.

“Southbound motorists are to detour at Ryegrass Road, then south on Black Sage Road, and back onto Highway 97 at Road 22,” the RCMP release reads.

DriveBC says passenger vehicles can detour to Road 18 to Road 20 north of Osoyoos. There’s a load restricted bridge on Road 22 along the detour so no commercial traffic is allowed.

Commercial traffic is to take Highway 3 to Highway 3A.

If you witnessed any part of the collision, you’re asked to contact the Oliver RCMP 250-498-3422.
