REVELSTOKE - A fatal crash this morning has closed Highway 1 east of Revelstoke.

Revelstoke RCMP and Emergency Services responded to the crash at around 11:30 a.m. today, July 17, near Canyon Hot Springs, roughly 33 kilometres east of Revelstoke.

Police say a commercial dump truck lost control and hit several vehicles. The driver of the dump truck was ejected on impact and died as a result.

There are no other reported fatalities and the injuries to the other drivers involved are unknown at this time.

Drive B.C. is reporting that Highway 1 is closed in both directions as police investigate. It was reportedly raining heavily at the time of the collision.

The highway will remain closed for several hours. Police ask motorists to obey the direction of traffic control personnel at the scene and to monitor DriveBC.ca for updates regarding the highway closure.

Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to call TCETS in Revelstoke at 250-837-5255.
