Highlights of Kelowna City Council meeting: March 31, 2014

Glenmore carwash
Council considered a rezoning application to allow for a carwash on 469 Glenmore Road and forwarded it to a Public Hearing on Tuesday April 15. Interested members of the public are encouraged to contact Council and/or attend the public hearing to state their views directly to Council.

Pleasantvale Lane road closure
Council gave first three readings for a bylaw to close a portion of land between Central Avenue and Cambridge Avenue to protect City and other public utilities within the road closure area, when they are consolidated with adjacent properties.

Lawrence Avenue Local Area Service
Council received information about the parcel tax for properties that benefitted from the Lawrence Avenue Local Service Area improvements. A 2014 Parcel Tax Roll Review Panel meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 16 at 11:45am at City Hall.

Police Services Building
Council received the Sufficiency Report for the Kelowna Police Services Building Project, which will see borrowing of $42 million to complete the project. The Alternative Approval Process (AAP) closed on March 28 and did not result in enough petitions to stop the process.
