VANCOUVER - Search-and-rescue officials in British Columbia say two men walked away with only minor injuries after their helicopter rolled onto a riverbank and sank into the water northeast of Vancouver.
Capt. Ray Jacobson of the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Victoria says the incident took place at the north end of Pitt Lake late Monday afternoon.
He says the pilot and passenger got themselves out of the Schweizer 269 helicopter.
Jacobson says a Cormorant helicopter from 442 Transportation and Rescue Squadron was training at the north end of Texada Island, which is in the Salish Sea, and responded to the incident.
He says the men were taken to a hospital in the Fraser Valley community of Abbotsford.
