KAMLOOPS — Heavy rains started to fall on Kamloops around 10 p.m. last night and soon after strong winds and thunder rocked the city.

Rain began around 10 p.m. and then lightning litt up the sky as the storm moved over the city. Driving winds and thunder then added to the drama as it swept through the city and got people talking on Twitter.

The storm dropped about 10 mm of rain at the airport but on Twitter people complained of the underpass at 10 Avenue downtown being inundated with water once again, something that happens almost annually in isolated storms. There were also reports of a rock slide at the south end of the Overlanders Bridge, an area that regularly sees small rock slides.

Early this morning Drive B.C. also reported water pooling along Highway 1 from Highway 97 at Monte Creek to the Sorrento area.
