A heat warning has been issued for Kamloops, the Okanagan and the Fraser Canyon today.
“An unseasonably hot period will persist for the next two days,” the Environment Canada warning says. “Daytime temperatures will drop to the low 30s this weekend.”
Warnings are issued for this region when daytime highs are more than 35 Celsius and overnight lows are 18 C or higher.
The forecast is for highs in Kelowna and Vernon of 35 C today and tomorrow with overnight lows of 18 C. Penticton is expected to get to 36 C today and 35 C tomorrow.
Kamloops is forecast to reach 36 C today and drop to 18 C overnight and 35 C tomorrow.
There’s a 30% chance of showers and thundershowers this afternoon in Kamloops. There’s a 30% chance of showers and thundershowers early this evening in Kelowna and Vernon. The thunderstorms are only forecast on the ridges in the Penticton area.
Highs are expected to reach 33 C on Saturday in Kamloops and 32 C Sunday under mainly sunny skies. The Okanagan is expected to be about 1 C warmer.
Next week is forecast to be less than 30 C with a mix of sun and cloud.
