This week marks the second week of regular season games for the Heat women's basketball team. With their home opener completed, the Heat will now head on the road to the prairies to play the Brandon University this weekend.

The two squads will open the weekend on Friday (Nov. 11) with a game that will begin at 4 p.m. (PST) The second game between the two teams will be played Saturday (Nov. 12) with a start time of  3 p.m. (PST) Both the games will take place at the HLC in Brandon Manitoba and be broadcast on CanadaWest TV.

The Heat began their season off with two tough losses to Trinity Western University in Kelowna. With both games played in a similar style, the Heat were unable to match the Spartans fourth quarter push. With the two losses the Heat now stand at a record of (0-2) and are sitting tied for fourth in Canada West. This weekend the Heat will be looking to hit the road and claim a win against the Bobcats.

Fifth year player Emily Kanester is leading the way for the Heat so far this season. With only two games played, Kanester was able to finish the weekend with 30 points and surpass the all time scoring record for the UBC Okanagan women’s basketball team that was claimed by Roz Huber in 2012. With an impressive 909 career points, Kanester has 18 more regular season games to play and add to her scoring mark for UBC Okanagan.

With two games under their belt, the Heat are shooting 37.1 percent from the field and 25 percent from beyond the arc. Both areas will need to improve as they head on the road.

Overall Head to Head vs BDN:  (2-1) With their last game played in their 2013-14 season the Heat hold the all-time lead in wins over Brandon.
