KELOWNA - Atlas the golden retriever is going home.

The saga of a missing dog that captured Kelowna's attention and sympathy has reached a happy ending. Kelowna RCMP report they were able to track down Atlas' location and returned him to his owner Taylor Galt just after 4 p.m. today (March 13).

Atlas became an Internet sensation in the Okanagan when it was reported he was stolen from his backyard in Kelowna on March 9. Dozens of people offered condolences and suggestions to Galt, who put up a $5000 reward if his dog was returned. Galt's sister described Atlas as part of their family.

Police note the investigation is not over just because Atlas is back home. Details about how they found him and where the investigation will go next are not being released at this time.
