PENTICTON - The regional district is trying to make it easier for residents to understand exactly what services are offered by the government body.

The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen’s Area 'D' ongoing governance study released the first series of fact sheets last week in an effort to deliver information about services currently provided by the regional district to residents in the district's most populated rural area.

The fact sheets are being provided to help the public better understand the nature of services in the area so they can make better decisions when answering survey questions or providing written submissions.

There will be two series of fact sheets issued. The first ones include regional district governance, fire and emergency services, solid waste, library, transit, and parks, trails and recreation. The next second set will include planning and building inspection, bylaw enforcement, sewer, water, administration, economic development and pest control. The second set of fact sheets are scheduled for release mid-month.

Fact sheets are available on the regional district website and at various locations throughout the area.
