KAMLOOPS - There is no excuse for the couch potatoes in Kamloops this weekend, as some facilities will be offering free admission and classes this Saturday for National Health and Fitness Day.

Kamloops Hot Yoga will be offering a free one-hour yoga class in McDonald Park on Saturday, June 1, at 12 p.m. The family friendly class is open to people of all abilities and skill levels. The outdoor class will be led by Aimee Townsend, a fixture at the organization who is experienced in hot yoga, children's yoga, breath practices and more.

Ava Doncsecz, who works with Kamloops Hot Yoga, believes it's a great way to get the community involved with something they might not have tried before.

"A lot of people can't afford to do yoga, and with community group things like this it's nice for them to be able to take their families and go to the park and participate," says Doncsecz.

As well as the relaxing yoga class, Kamloopsians are invited to take a free dip at a few of the community pools and pump some iron at the gym.

The Tournament Capital Centre is offering a full day of free access for swimming and working out. The leisure pool will be open all day from 6:30 a.m. until 9 p.m., and you can swim laps from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. The indoor track and wellness centre will be open to the public from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Westsyde Pool and Fitness Centre will offer laps and leisure swims from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.,  followed by a public swim from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. They will offer free access to the fitness centre beginning at 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
