Gearing up for the Indoor GranFondo & Family Festival

KAMLOOPS – The 3rd Annual Kamloops Indoor GranFondo and Family Festival is on Family Day weekend, Sunday, Feb. 8. Starting at 10 a.m., come out to enjoy an active day with the kids at the Tournament Capital Centre.

In addition to face-painting and a photo booth, Big Little Science Centre will be there, 4Cats Studio will have a kids’ Artzone, PacificSport is hosting XploreSports, Kamloops Adaptive Sports Association has wheelchair basketball, and RiverCity Gymnastics will have an obstacle course and Princess Party. There will also be an expo with an eclectic group of exhibitors. Admission is free for both the expo and Family Festival.

The Kamloops Indoor GranFondo is a fundraiser for the MS Society, during which participants can ride for up to six hours on a bike trainer or spin bike. Registration is $50, which includes assistance with set-up, a custom water bottle, swag bag, aid stations with snacks and a boxed lunch provided by Taco Del Mar.

New this year is the addition of live entertainment. Come out to see live music by the Serious Dogs and Roadside Attraction, as well as presentations by world traveler Alex de Chantal and bike pro Ted Morton. Ready to start right at 10:30 a.m.? Fitness for Mortals instructor Shawn Wenger will lead an exhilarating spin class to start off the day. There will also be a free SportMed B.C. workshop from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. SportSmart is designed to help parents, coaches and managers understand how they can be key players in preventing injuries and facilitating the development of their children as athletes.

There’s still time to register! Not quite ready to ride for more than an hour? Participants who want to ride for an hour or less get $10 off their registration fee. Visit www.kamloopsgranfondo.ca to register.
