VANCOUVER - Two brothers accused of beating a gay couple in Vancouver two years ago have been acquitted of assault charges.
A provincial court judge says he cleared Parminder and Ravinder Bassi of Richmond, B.C., because he could not believe beyond a reasonable doubt they were correctly identified as the attackers.
David Holtzman and Peter Regier suffered concussions, cuts and bruises in the attack in June of 2010.
The incident happened after one of the attackers was spotted urinating outside a building.
It's alleged the assailants yelled homophobic slurs at Holtzman and Regier during the assault.
Holtzman died last year of an unrelated medical condition. (News1130,CKNW)
