PENTICTON - Plans are in the works for a dazzling display of fireworks over Okanagan Lake on Canada Day with a little financial assistance from the Penticton business community.

The Lakeside Resort and Downtown Penticton Association will be raising funds to pay for the July 1 fireworks show, according to a media release.

“Fireworks are a much-loved Canada Day tradition in Penticton,” Downtown Penticton Association executive director Lynn Allin says in the release.

A number of corporate pledges have already been received as the team seeks to raise a total of $25,000 to pay for the fireworks show.

“We still have a long way to go to reach the overall goal, but Lynn Allin and I are confident we’ll get there," the resort's David Prystay says in the release. "Penticton businesses are very generous when it comes to showing community spirit."

Businesses interested in sponsorship opportunities are invited to call 250-493-9752 or email erin@rpbhotels.com.
