Freezing rain to hit the Coquihalla tonight

SNOW FORECAST FOR IN TOWN

THOMPSON-OKANAGAN - If you are hitting the highways tonight beware, Environment Canada is calling for a risk of freezing rain.

There is a chance of snow on the Coquihalla from Merritt to Hope and Highway 3 from Princeton to Hope this afternoon and evening, but as a Pacific system moves in temperatures will warm up slightly and freezing rain could occur.

The weather office says the threat of freezing rain will diminish by Friday morning as temperatures rise above freezing.

In Penticton snow is expected to fall today and the entire region can expect at least a chance of snow both Friday and Saturday as well. Temperatures will warm up to 3 Celsius by Saturday in the Okanagan and in the Kamloops region it will hit 0 C by Sunday.

By mid-week we could see temperatures as high as 7-9 C throughout the region though the Okanagan is also expecting a 30 per cent chance of rain beginning Monday.
