Freezing rain should ease this morning in Kamloops, Okanagan and mountain passes
Light rain was falling in much of the Thompson-Okanagan early this morning, Nov. 2 but freezing rain is still likely, especially in mountain passes.
Environment Canada highway alerts are warning of freezing rain north of the snowshed through to Kamloops on the Coquihalla Highway, along the Okanagan Connector and on Highway 3, especially from Allison Pass to Princeton.
Snowfall of 5-10 cm is possible this morning in the North Okanagan, Shuswap, Highway 1 through Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass and the North Thompson, changing to freezing rain.
Kamloops is expected to reach a high of 7 Celsius today with an overnight low of 3 C. There is a warming trend with highs of 9 C expected through the weekend and overnight lows of 3 C.
Normal high temperatures for this time of year in Kamloops are 8.5 C with overnight lows just above freezing.
For the Okanagan, highs of 3-5 C are expected today with snow levels rising to 2,000 metres this afternoon followed by overnight lows of 1 C.
Highs Friday are expected to reach 10 C and continue at 8-9 C through the weekend with overnight lows of 2-3 C on the weekend.
It should be drier on the weekend than it is this morning but there is chance of showers in the Okanagan and rain in Kamloops Saturday.
