LAKE COUNTRY - Lake Country will soon enjoy free public WiFi thanks to an agreement between the District of Lake Country and Shaw Communications Inc. This partnership will give Lake Country residents and visitors free Shaw Go WiFi guest access, as well as complimentary access to Shaw subscribers. WiFi access points will be installed throughout the community in the coming months, including the Town Centre, Municipal Hall, and public parks.

“Free WiFi access throughout Lake Country’s public spaces will be a benefit to residents and visitors,” Mayor James Baker said. “The collaboration between Shaw and the District represents a positive step in Lake Country’s on-going efforts to be a connected, progressive and innovative community. Council views Shaw Go WiFi as another important service being offered to residents – with the added benefit of being provided at no cost to the municipality.”

“Consistent, high-quality Internet access for mobile devices has become an expectation of residents and those who visit the community. Through partnering with Shaw, the district is striving to meet and exceed those expectations,” Jamie McEwan, Community Development Manager for the district said. “Increased connectivity is a benefit to our local economic development, linking people to businesses and amenities in town.”

Lake Country residents and visitors to the Okanagan Valley region can access the Shaw Go WiFi network on their WiFi enabled devices by selecting ‘ShawGuest’ from the list of available WiFi settings and following the on-screen instructions to connect.

A full list of locations is available at www.shaw.ca/wifi or by downloading the Shaw Go WiFi Finder App. Look for more hotspots in Lake Country soon.
