Free movies for opening weekend at Twin Rivers Drive-in near Kamloops
The Twin Rivers Drive-in is back in a new location in conjunction with Kamloops Film Society and Tk’emlúps te Secwepemc.
Two free screenings of Canadian Indigenous films will kick off a lineup of movies to be screened at the Tournament Capital Ranch north of Kamloops for the next couple of months.
“It has taken time to open this year, there were a lot of details to iron out with lots of partners to make sure this was the right location," Josh Rose with the Kamloops Film Society said. “We’re really excited to get folks out this weekend to view two Canadian Indigenous films, and made it free so everyone can come out.”
Night Raiders, a female-driven dystopian drama about resilience, courage and love is showing on July 21. Run Woman Run is a story about a mother in a diabetic coma who changes her life and is airing, July 22. Start time is at 9:30 p.m.
Rose said more of the big blockbuster type of films will be presented in the future.
A concession offering everyone's favourite movie snacks like popcorn, canned drinks and candy will be onsite. The site is smoke free, vape free, and alcohol and cannabis free.
The audio for the film will be transmitted via radio at 100.9 FM.
Tickets can be purchase online here or during open hours at the Paramount Theatre at 503 Victoria St.
The Tournament Capital Ranch is at 5355 Yellowhead Highway in Rayleigh.
