KAMLOOPS - Four more retail cannabis store applications go before Kamloops city council at its meeting tomorrow.

The proposed locations are at 100-125 4th Avenue, 6-685 Tranquille Road, 520-1055 Hillside Drive and 5-111 Oriole Road.

The Tranquille Road location received the most correspondence opposing the application with four letters against and one letter with concerns, according to a report going to council tomorrow, Feb. 12. The letter writers had concerns the cannabis store would create parking scarcity and congestion in the area while creating problems for residents in the apartment complex above the proposed location.

A Tranquille Road application that was approved last month stirred up some debate at council. For the first time the vote to approve a cannabis store was not unanimous with two councillors voting against the proposal. Coun. Arjung Singh was concerned about having too many cannabis stores in one area.

The location proposed for Oriole Road received one letter of opposition from a neighbouring business worried about parking for its elderly clients.

No correspondence was received for the other locations.
