'Great Canadian Cookbook' to celebrate cuisine through TV and online content

TORONTO - Celebrity chef Lynn Crawford and comic Noah Cappe are teaming up on a venture to define, document and celebrate Canadian cuisine.

Production was starting Monday on the "Great Canadian Cookbook," a multi-pronged project of Food Network Canada.

Crawford, a judge on "Chopped Canada," host of "Pitchin' In" and chef-owner of Ruby Watchco restaurant in Toronto, and actor Cappe, host of "Carnival Eats," are the faces of the venture, Shaw Media said in a release.

"Great Canadian Cookbook" includes the launch of a website later this year followed by a four-part TV series.

Crawford and Cappe will examine Canada's cultural food mosaic through meeting and eating with Canadian food lovers and makers across the country. Part of that will include kitchen conversations and a look at homegrown ingredients and generations of beloved family recipes.

The online companion site is slated to include recipes, celebrity videos, and how-to's.
