Environment Canada is warning drivers about fog this morning in the Interior causing low visibility on certain roads and highways.

A fog advisory was issued this morning, Jan. 16, and is expected to remain in effect for the duration of the morning.

The advisory includes the Trans-Canada Highway from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass, the North Thompson and the Fraser Valley east, including Hope.

“A mild and moist airmass will remain over the area this morning. Areas of dense fog have become more widespread and visibilities may at times be reduced to near zero. Conditions are forecast to improve late this morning,” according to a statement from Environment Canada.

“Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations.”

Environment Canada recommends drivers ensure their lights are turned on and maintain a safe following distance.

More information can be found on Environment Canada’s website and DriveB.C. for the most current road conditions.
