NORTH OKANAGAN - Financial assistance is available for qualifying individuals in the North Okanagan.
As a result of flooding and related damages, provincial Disaster Financial Assistance has been authorized for the coverage of qualifying losses for claimants who were unable to obtain insurance coverage, the City of Vernon states in a media release.
“All applicants should first check with their insurance agent to determine if their current insurance policy provides coverage for the resulting damage,” the City says.
Information and application forms about Disaster Financial Assistance are available on the DFA web site. Application forms are also available at the Vernon Fire Hall, 3401 30 Street in Vernon.
Emergency Management B.C. encourages people to submit their application as soon as possible, with the deadline to receive applications being Aug. 5, 2017, the City says.
Applications can be submitted to DFA@gov.bc.ca or by fax: 250-952-5542. As applications are received, evaluators will contact the applicants to explain the program requirements and schedule an onsite visit.
