Five things to do in Kelowna this weekend

KELOWNA - Enjoy mouth-watering food and keeping fit this weekend in Kelowna.

Hungry for a run? Come and join the Hungry, Hungry Half event at the Kelowna Apple Bowl on Saturday, May 25 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

A fun walk or run with distances of five km, 10 km and 21.1 km, along with a kilometre kids run. Costumes are encouraged and there are tons of prizes and lots of sweet treats along the route. All proceeds benefit the Central Okanagan Food Bank.

The Shriners Hospitals of British Columbia and Yukon Child Services Society are bringing the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Walk for Love to Kelowna, Saturday, May 25, at Island Stage, Waterfront Park, 1037 Aurora Heights in West Kelowna.

This family centered event will allow Okanagan parents and children to walk or roll in support of the Shriners Hospitals' mission to provide orthopaedic, muscular-skeletal and burn care to children, regardless of their ability to pay. Shrine Clowns and mini-cars will be on site together with Shriners from BC, the Yukon, and the USA.

Registration starts at 10:30 a.m., lunch will be served at Tugboat Bay Concession from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The walk, one or two km starts at 11:30 a.m. Entertainment by magician Leif David runs from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with the draw for helicopter ride at 12:30 pm (ticket holder must be present to win). 

The Okanagan Carribean Barbecue Festival Fundraiser will have your mouth watering.

Come out and support the fundraiser barbecue and meet new and old friends, enjoy great music and most importantly have lots of fun.

The Comedy Battle Royale tonight, May 24, at Dakotas is a unique stand up comedy show that takes comedians, normally solo performers, and puts them together on teams that go head to head doing standup sets based on topics drawn from a hat.

No comedy show delivers more jokes, trash talk, controversial decisions and cash prizes than the world famous Battle Royale. The only comedy show to feature in the Nuit Blanche Festival and a sellout favourite at the Oddblock comedy Festival and featured at the Grindstone Theatre in Edmonton and Underground Cafe in Toronto, Hosted by Mike Green, it's a show not to be missed.

The Laurel Packing House is where you'll find everything feminine and spring-like, Sunday, May 26.

The annual Spring Market by The Momma Collective features over 50 curated local makers, kid's crafting with nannysitters and free admission. Come join your fellow artisans and community and support your love for local goodness. It all starts at 10 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. on Sunday.
