KELOWNA - Today the first non-stop flight from Kelowna to Fort McMurray took off at 7:30 a.m.
West Jet first announced the plan for the service in January as part of an overall expansion of flights across Canada and into the United States. Okanagan residents can also connect for destinations across the pond.
Service is expanding this coming summer into European and trans-Atlantic destinations for the first time, with flights leaving Toronto and Dublin beginning June 15.
The return daily flight from Fort McMurray to Kelowna arrives at 11:37 p.m.
