The first baby born in Kamloops this year is a big, healthy boy.

Baby Konner Jean Bouvier was born at Royal Inland Hospital on Jan. 1 at 6:37 p.m. to parents Sarah Shields and Kaleb Bouvier, weighing 9 lbs, 2 oz.

“We were surprised he was the first because he arrived later in the day,” said Shields.

Mom and baby are still in hospital getting some final checkups and will be heading home tomorrow to “get into the swing of things.”

“We are just resting and eating and feeding,” Shields said. “Yesterday was a long day.”

Baby Konner is the couple’s first child, and Shields said so far he is eating and sleeping well.

She said the couple have lots of support from friends and family.

There has not been time for the family to take photos they want to release publicly yet.
