MERRITT - Fire crews are fighting a wildfire approximately 35 kilometres east of Merritt today, but no structures are threatened.

The fire, which is around 112-hectares in size, was discovered yesterday afternoon, April 15, within the Kamloops Fire Centre.

Fire information officer Hannah Swift says there are currently nine wildfire firefighters on site in Douglas Lake near Minnie Lake Road and they are being assisted by the local fire department.

Swift says the fire was being held and crews were "making good progress."

No structures are currently threatened by the fire.
