Firefighter Spring Training Coming to Kamloops

KAMLOOPS – Kamloops Fire Rescue and the City of Kamloops are pleased to host the 2015 Volunteer Firefighters Association of B.C. Spring Training Seminar in Kamloops.

This annual training seminar brings together volunteer firefighters from throughout British Columbia for three days of intense educational training necessary for the safe performance of their duties in their respective communities. There will also be suppliers demonstrating equipment and apparatus related to the firefighting industry. This year, organizers are anticipating over 400 volunteer firefighters, plus their families, to spend their weekend in Kamloops.

This year’s seminar will be held May 1 to 3 at the Thompson Rivers University Campus Activity Centre and surrounding grounds, as well as at the Kamloops Fire Rescue Training Facility. Firefighters will be training in live fire scenarios, auto extrication, technical rescue, search and rescue techniques, Rapid Intervention (RIT), and other valuable skills.

There will be a public open house on Saturday, May 2, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Campus Activity Center at TRU. It will include a bouncy castle, various fire engines and equipment, manufacturer’s displays and the opportunity to watch some of the training sessions.
