Hard copies of COVID vaccine documents are no longer valid as of today, Sept. 26.

Starting today, the only way to present a B.C. Vaccine Card with be via QR code. Businesses in B.C. became mandated to check for vaccine passports on Sept. 13, and today is the last day of the transition period when paper records are still valid.

"More than 3.1 million British Columbians have already received their B.C. Vaccine Card, allowing them to attend events and indoor recreational settings more safely," Health Minister Adrian Dix said in a press release. "The smartest, safest, and soundest decision right now for everyone eligible is to get vaccinated. We encourage all British Columbians to get their shot and download their B.C. Vaccine Card today."

To get a valid B.C. Vaccine Card, vaccinated residents can submit their information online where they will be given a digital copy that can be saved on their mobile device.

"Getting vaccinated is the most important thing we can all do to protect ourselves, our families, and our communities from COVID-19," B.C.'s provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said.

"The B.C. Vaccine Card helps people attend and support events and businesses with confidence, knowing other people around them are also vaccinated. It's an important step to help put the COVID-19 pandemic behind us."
