The Okanagan Fest of Ale took place in Penticton this weekend, and announced which local craft beers were voted the best in the province.

The Fest of Ale brought together 67 breweries to showcase more than 200 craft beers and ciders from around the province. Judges handed out awards in 15 categories, according to a press release.

Kelowna’s Wild Ambition Brewing won best in show for its Extinction Reversal Gose, and Penticton based Highway 97 Brewing won the People’s Choice for best beer with its Dreamweaver Strawberries and Cream Wheat Ale.

“We had an awesome time this weekend and are thrilled with the success of the event. We are very fortunate to attract some of the best brewers and cideries to the event as well as guests with a keen interest in craft beers and ciders,” Okanagan Fest of Ale Society president Michael Stocker said in the release. "Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves at the festival, and we heard really positive feedback from guests and breweries throughout the weekend.”

This year was the 27th festival that raised money for local Penticton charities. Over the years the Fest of Ale has raised roughly $805,000 for charity.

“With net proceeds from the event going to charity, everyone benefits,” Stocker said.
