Stubler out as B.C. Lions defensive co-ordinator, will not have contract renewed

VANCOUVER - Rich Stubler is not having his contract as defensive co-ordinator of the B.C. Lions renewed for 2014, the team announced on Saturday.

Stubler had finished his second year as the team's defensive co-ordinator after returning to B.C. in 2012 following stints with the club in 2000 and 2010.

"I am grateful for Rich's contributions to our organization and on behalf of our club, I wish him the very best in the future," said head coach Mike Benevides.

The Lions had a 11-7 record in the regular season, finishing third in the CFL West division.

B.C. lost to the Saskatchewan Roughriders 29-25 in the West semifinal.
