TORONTO - The Toronto Argonauts have signed general manager Jim Barker to a contract extension.

Barker, who was entering the final year of his original deal, is under contract with the CFL team through the 2015 season.

The extension comes after the Argos won the 2012 Grey Cup in Barker's first full season as general manager.

Barker stepped down as Argos head coach following the 2011 season to concentrate full-time on his GM duties.

Barker's first two moves as general manager were to hire Scott Milanovich as head coach and acquire veteran quarterback Ricky Ray from the Edmonton Eskimos.

Ray adjusted slowly to Milanovich's offence but caught fire late in the season and was a big reason why the Argos won their final five games of the season.

That included throwing two TD passes in Toronto's 35-22 win over Calgary in the historic 100th Grey Cup at Rogers Centre in November.

As well, Milanovich is a finalist for the CFL's coach of the year award.
