MONTREAL - The Montreal Alouettes signed quarterbacks Troy Smith and Tanner Marsh to three-year contracts Friday.
The moves come as the Alouettes await word from veteran Anthony Calvillo regarding his CFL future. Calvillo, pro football's all-time passing leader, has said he's leaning towards retirement after missing much of the 2013 season with a concussion.
Smith, a former Heisman Trophy winner at Ohio State, ended the season as Montreal's starter. Smith finished 60-of-114 passing for 884 yards with nine TDs and five interceptions.
Marsh completed 56-of-106 passes as a CFL rookie for 972 yards with three TDs and eight interceptions. The 24-year-old ran for 125 yards and two TDs on 21 carries.
