What makes a work of art valuable?

Famous British street artist Banksy set up an artist's stall on a busy New York street to see if passersby would dish out a mere $60 for works labelled original and authentic.

Few took him up on the offer.

Banksy creations have been known to go for tens of thousands of dollars, yet one woman negotiated two for $60 so she could decorate her kids' rooms.
