Serbia PM warns of trouble at weekend Bosnia Serb rallies

BELGRADE, Serbia - Serbia's prime minister has warned that upcoming parallel rallies of opposed Bosnian Serb political camps could lead to violence and instability.

Aleksandar Vucic appealed Wednesday to both the government and opposition in the Serb-run part of Bosnia to ensure there are no incidents at the gatherings scheduled for Saturday.

Vucic says any instability in the Balkans would be dangerous and retard much-needed economic recovery. He says information about potential trouble at the rallies has come from Serbian intelligence.

A Bosnian Serb opposition alliance has called the rally on Saturday as part of effort to bring down the government of nationalist leader Milorad Dodik.

Corruption and poverty are widespread more than 20 years after the end of the 1992-95 ethnic conflict in Bosnia that killed 100,000 people.
