Top Russian diplomat warns that Mueller probe hurts ties

MOSCOW - A top Russian diplomat has dismissed the U.S. probe into possible collusion between the Donald Trump campaign and Russia as "anti-Russian hysteria" and warned that it is hurting ties between the two countries.

In February, special counsel Robert Mueller indicted 13 Russians over a plot to disrupt the 2016 U.S. presidential election. The indictment said several people associated with a Russian troll farm ran a hidden social media campaign aimed in part at helping Trump defeat Hillary Clinton.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told The Associated Press Tuesday he has no information about how far Mueller's team has advanced but warned that the investigation itself, which he dismissed as "a product of anti-Russian hysteria", hurts bilateral ties.

Ryabkov added, however, that Moscow remains open to dialogue with the U.S.
