2 IS supporters reported killed in Siberian shootout

MOSCOW - Russia's anti-terrorism agency says two supporters of the Islamic State group have been killed in a shootout with security forces in the Siberian city of Tyumen.

In a statement reported by Russian news agencies, the National Anti-terrorism Committee said officers of the Federal Security Service on Friday received information about two armed people in a private residence who were planning a terrorist attack.

The suspects refused orders to surrender, began shooting at the officers and were killed in the return fire, the committee said.

Tyumen is about 1700 kilometres (1100 miles) east of Moscow.
