Explosives found under LafargeHolcim cement trucks in Paris

Paris authorities are investigating a possible attempt to blow up cement trucks belonging to a company suspected of striking deals with Islamic State group extremists in Syria.

A police official said six containers of gasoline and an apparent detonator were found Thursday under trucks at a LafargeHolcim cement site in northeast Paris. The official said no one has been arrested, nothing exploded and no one was hurt.

The Paris prosecutor's office has opened a criminal investigation into an alleged attempt to set a destructive fire, according to a judicial official. Both officials weren't authorized to be publicly named.

The case hasn't been handed to counterterrorism authorities. It's unclear whether there is any link to an ongoing investigation into LafargeHolcim's activities in Syria during its civil war.

Swiss-French LafargeHolcim wouldn't comment.
