Bulgaria to extradite Moroccan man on terror charges

SOFIA, Bulgaria - A Bulgarian court has ordered the extradition of a Moroccan man wanted at home for terrorism charges over his alleged involvement with Islamic State militants.

The district court in the southern town of Haskovo said Thursday that Nofal Rashid Zahri, 35, wanted by Interpol on terrorism related charges, will be extradited to Morocco. The decision cannot be appealed.

Zahri was holding a fake Syrian passport when he was caught illegally crossing the border from Turkey on Jan. 13 with a group of migrants. The arrest warrant issued by Morocco alleges he is a "loyal member of the Islamic State militant group."

Zahri has admitted he worked for IS as an accountant, but says only to support his family.

If found guilty by a Moroccan court, he could get 20 years in prison.
