Eneas Mountain fire grows to 1,000 ha; new evacuation alerts

PENTICTON - The Eneas Mountain wildfire, which has grown to 1,000 hectares today, continues to threaten homes.

The Central Okanagan Regional District has issued an evacuation alert today, July 19, for 60 properties in the south end of Peachland as well as some properties in the regional district’s Electoral Area West, according to a release from the Emergency Operations Centre.

The alert affects approximately 150 people. An evacuation order for Brent Road and Highway 97 south remains in effect. An evacuation alert issued by the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen remains in effect for Callan Road, Highway 97 and part of North Beach Road.

An emergency support services centre is set up at Lakeview Heights Baptist Church, located at 2630 Alhambra Dr. in West Kelowna.
