DriveBC is getting ready to transition to a new website later this month. Drivers around B.C., including in Thompson-Okanagan region, could be getting a better platform to find out about what’s happening on the roads.

The transition to the new site is starting on June 19, after more than a year in development.

The site is supposed to be easier to use and more reliable for when British Columbians are planning a trip or encounter incidents on the road so folks can get the latest information.

The Ministry of Transportation said the new site is going to be geared towards people viewing it on their phones.

A preview of what the site will look like is already available in its beta version on DriveBC.ca.

“There will be a simplified map and a less cluttered look. The site will offer clearer event notifications and new advisory features. New route planning will focus information about specified trips. There will also be a stronger focus on the mobile experience, which is how most people access the site,” the ministry said in a press release last year.

Email subscribers have been advised to resubscribe by June 18 to continue getting notifications during the transition.
